How it works

From your memories to a finished song.

You do the remembering. We do the writing, the music and the production — and we keep you in control at every stage.

Commissioning a song means telling us the story first — in writing or in a recorded interview — and hearing a version back before anything is finalised.

  1. Choose the occasion

Birthday, anniversary, wedding, retirement, a family history, a memorial, or something that fits no category at all. The occasion shapes the tone before a word is written.

  2. Tell the story

Complete a detailed questionnaire in your own time, or talk it through with us in an interview. There are no wrong answers and no musical knowledge required — the small, specific details are the ones that matter most.

  3. Agree the direction

Choose the feeling, the broad musical era and genre, and whether you would prefer a male or female voice. You can mention music you enjoy so we understand your taste.

Songs Aloud creates original work. We do not copy existing songs, melodies, lyrics or performers.

  4. Creative development

We develop the story into original lyrics, choose the musical direction and produce the song. Every commission is individually written, reviewed and refined before you hear anything.

  5. First listen

You receive a private preview through your own secure link. Nothing is public, and nothing is shared without your permission.

  6. Revisions

Tell us what to change in one consolidated round — a name pronounced differently, a detail corrected, a line that does not sit right.

  7. Final delivery

You receive the agreed files, the lyric sheet and your usage licence, ready to play, present or give.

It begins with a few questions about someone you love.
