Family story

The story

Written nostalgically by a man to his mother and sister, remembering their first home in the 1960's.

What we were aiming for

Sixties pop as the family would have heard it at the time: warm, unhurried, and small enough in scale that the names in the lyric carry more weight than the arrangement.

From the lyrics

Maple Street, where life began,Little Tracy, Mam and Dad

What they said

I just loved the song about our first home in Maple Street. It brought it all back to me — the fireworks, and the Catherine wheel chasing me up the stairs. Great memories.
